Extra funding committed to the Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI)
The government will increase funding for the Renewable Heat Incentive to £1.15 billion by 2020-21, while reforming the scheme to deliver better value for money. The financial commitment is central to the Government’s target to decarbonise the country’s energy. Whilst renewable electricity has seen Feed in Tariff payments cut, renewable heating has seen the budget increase as the Government incentivises investment in the industry.
