Clean Energy Consultancy provided an energy review to evaluate the energy consumption and carbon footprint for Devonshire House School, Lyndhurst House School and Hawkesdown House School in London.

The current carbon footprint for each school, the schools annual energy usage and operating costs was determined. The review considered the operating costs, environmental benefits and estimated capital costs if the heating systems were powerflushed and upgraded, the buildings insulation levels and single glazing upgraded and the existing gas boilers replaced with a hybrid heating system comprising high efficiency modulating condensing gas boilers and heat pumps.

The energy review determined the current carbon footprint of the schools heating system was 248 tonnes CO2 at a cost of £55,000 per annum. The review concluded that implementing the recommendations put forward by Clean Energy Consultancy for energy conservation and the modulating condensing gas boilers and heat pumps, would result in the annual heating CO2 emissions and annual operating costs being halved and reduced to 116 tonnes CO2 and £24,500 respectively.
