Suffolk Wild Life Trust wanted to minimise the energy consumption and carbon emissions for an extension to their head office at Ashbocking. Clean Energy Consultancy was requested to provide a project feasibility study to determine the technical and financial viability of a ground sourced heat pump and a 6kW wind turbine.

The feasibility study demonstrated that the Proven WT6000 6.0 kW wind turbine would generate an annual energy yield of 6,255 kWh of renewable electricity saving the charity 2.7 tonnes of CO2 and over £700.00 per year. The study further determined that the new office’s space heating demand could be met by a 6.4 kW Dimplex heat pump installation using 6,000 kWh of electricity at an annual cost of £700.00 producing 2.6 tonnes of CO2. This compared with annual heating oil costs of £1,266 and 4.8 tonnes of CO2 per year. The Clean Energy Consultancy feasibility study also demonstrated the wind turbine would generate the electricity consumption required to operate the ground sourced heat pump.

Clean Energy Consultancy assisted Suffolk Wild Life Trust to successfully apply for and be awarded with the CSEP Development and Capital Grants and the LCBP capital grant.
